How sad I am since I’ve heard that my high-school best friend Aileen is gone. Such wonderful memories : .....Lynette Cres, and her dads green Plymouth Duster – power! We clocked a lot of miles in our dads’ cars back & forth between Richmond Hill & Thornhill. .....St. Joe’s.......& our friend Shirley, we often hung around as a threesome....Gym bloomers worn under our very short uniform kilts, which were supposed to be no more than one inch above the knee, haha. .....our shared love of folk music .....many hours together listening to our LP’s,we had such great taste in music! .....Gordon Lightfoot concerts at Massy Hall .....Mariposa Folk Festival at Centre Island, we saw newcomer John Prine, and Joni Mitchell there .....The Riverboat in Yorkville, we saw Kris Kristofferson there, he was so wasted one time that he gave the audience return tickets for another show! .....Bill & his university pals, and great weekend house parties .....the Yonge St strip.......the Generator at Yonge & Eglinton, that’s where we met Tim .....going to Restricted movies & hoping not to be asked for ID,or borrowing ID ! .....our first summer job together pressing plastic widget thingies, we were 16,so boring but we got a pay check .....birthday gifts - a framed Van Gogh print which I still have on my wall, and I always think of her when I see it .....ponchos.....Aileen loved to wear ponchos, and when we met up again in Cambridge in 2003 after 25 years she arrived in a poncho, seeing her coming towards me and walking lightly as she did, it sure took me back! .....our reunion visit in 2003 and punting on the River Cam in Cambridge. We should have met up again. Good, good times, so much laughter, never forgotten. I miss knowing Aileen is doing her thing in her little corner of England.
